KitKat

KitKat came to Whiskers as an 18 year old guy who had gone blind and was taking medication for a thyroid condition.  His owner had him since he was a kitten, but said now that the cat is blind he sometimes misses the litterbox and he can't properly care for him anymore.  He asked if someone from Whiskers could care for him in his final years.  We knew KitKat would not be considered an adoptable cat and no other shelter would take him, but Whiskers wanted to help.  One of our dedicated volunteers took him in as a foster cat and will care for him in her home for the rest of his life and Whiskers will cover the cost.  Cats like KitKat have no where else to go when their owners no longer want them, but Whiskers will care for them and make sure they are loved and cared for during their twilight years when they need love the most.  Please consider sponsoring sweet KitKat so Whiskers may continue to do the work we do to help senior cats in need. UPDATE April 2016:  It is with great sadness that we report that Kitkat lost his fight. He started to struggle breathing and went to the vet right away where it was determined that his lungs were filling with fluid. Every possible measure was taken to save him, but he just didn't have enough fight left in him. He was with us only a few weeks, but the impression he made on us is beyond words. In those weeks he had numerous vet visits, tests, blood work and medications and racked up large bills. All of your generous donations will go towards his medical and final expenses. We thank you for the overwhelming support you showed Kitkat and Whiskers. It is because of you that we can do the work we do. We wish every story had a happy ending, but sadly, it doesn't always happen that way. We are grateful we could give Kitkat a loving foster home in his final weeks, based on your support.
