Teddy

Teddy is a sweet kitty who was adopted from Whiskers in 2014 as a kitten, with his sister, Abby. His owner recently passed away, so he is back with a Whiskers foster family, looking for a new home. Teddy will let you know when to pick him up and put him on your lap. He has a neurological condition (cerebellar hypoplasia) that makes him walk oddly, and he can't jump up onto a lap or a bed, sofa, etc. He can pull himself up onto a sofa or upholstered chair. He likes to sleep with his person, and he can get into bed if you have some carpeted cat steps nest to the bed. His condition does not affect his personality, and he can eat and drink and use the litter box just fine. It is not contagious to other pets or people. Teddy has been diagnosed with urinary crystals, so he must eat food prescribed by his veterinarian. He is currently eating Hill's C/D wet and C/D dry food. It is ok for other cats to eat this food .. his sister Abby eats it also, even though she doesn't not medically need it. Teddy and Abby do not need to go to the same home. They are not bonded, even though they came from the same litter and have always lived together.

Atticus

Meet beautiful Atticus! Recently rescued in Albany by a Whiskers volunteer; she quickly learned what a sweet boy she saved. After being fixed, we also learned that he is FIV+. Cats with FIV can live a long, healthy life just as any other kitty that is negative. Cats who are negative and positive can co-exist without transmitting the disease as long as there is no fighting. The only way it is transmitted is through deep bite wounds. Cats cannot transmit FIV to humans. Atticus doesn’t ask for much. He will invite himself up on any lap. He simply wants to be loved! He’s very outgoing and vocal (his way of saying time to pet me). For the short time we’ve had him, he’s a big teddy bear and making up for lost time while on the streets.
