Ferdinand

Ferdiand is a Bengal kitty who was found as a stray and taken in by another rescue in 2014. He had already been neutered, so we know this beautiful Bengal boy had a home at one time. He initially tested positive for feline leukemia (FELV), so the rescue asked Whiskers to take him in since we have a special space for FELV+ cats. Once at Whiskers, we tested him again and he came back negative for FELV, but positive for FIV. We did several more tests over two months and those test results remained the same, so he was listed for adoption.

He was adopted by a friend of a volunteer, but sadly, he started spraying in their home. The vet determined there was nothing medically wrong and the adopters tried everything that was recommended to curb this behavior, but he continued. After a year he was returned to Whiskers, because we make a lifetime commitment to our animals and will always take them back. Bengal cats are notorious for spraying to mark territory, even after they have been neutered, so we knew Ferdinand was likely to continue this behavior and he would therefore not be listed for adoption again and would instead, live out his life at Whiskers.

Ferdinand was born in 2008 or 2009 and as of this writing in 2021, he is a happy, senior boy living in a cage-free environment at the shelter. He may never be adopted into a home again, but he will always have a loving safe home at Whiskers.

UPDATE: Sweet and sassy Ferdinand passed away in 2022 after battling a long illness. Thank you to everyone who sponsored him over the years.
