Mama Toes
Mama Toes came to Whiskers in the summer of 2016 as a stray. When Mama Toes was trapped, it was initially thought she was pregnant, but, a couple of our dedicated volunteers were worried that she had already had her babies so they kept going back to the woods where she was found. After 2 days, a 4 week old kitten came out of the woods in response to a volunteer meowing like a cat! In all, 4 kittens were found and happily reunited with their mom in a home of one of our foster parents. It was initially thought Mama Toes had suffered from frostbite because she was missing part of her tail and toes on her front paws. But, after catching her kittens, we realized all of them had shortened and missing toes! All of her kittens were adopted, but Mama Toes was semi-feral when we took her in so it's taken quite a while for us to earn her trust. Like other ferals or semi-ferals, she loves other cats and is happy living at the shelter with so many feline friends. She was born in 2015 and Whiskers is committed to taking care of her for life.
