Ziggy Stardust, Bowie, Major Tom, Rebel Rebel, Starman
In January Whiskers got a call from some folks who had a momma cat with a litter of one-week old kittens. They wanted us to take the kittens, but they wanted to keep the mom. We explained that one-week old kittens could not survive without their momma. We offered to take the kittens once they could be weaned from their momma but the people insisted they wanted to be rid of the kittens right now. Whiskers has wonderful volunteers who could have bottle fed these little babies every two hours as necessary, but we know that kittens would do much better if nursed by mom rather than bottle fed by people for many weeks. It took quite a bit of convincing, but our volunteer got the people to understand that these little kittens needed their momma and they opted to surrender both momma and all of her babies to our care. Momma and babies are settled in to one of our foster homes and are all doing great. They will be ready for adoption in several weeks once they are all old enough to be spayed/neutered and to receive their vaccinations and other medical treatment.
This special group deserved some special names so we named mom Ziggy Stardust. We think all of the kittens are boys and they have been named Bowie, Major Tom, Rebel Rebel and Starman. Please consider sponsoring the group of very special kitties to help Whiskers continue to do the caring work we do for animals in need.
UPDATE: By summer 2016 all of the kittens and mom have been adopted!! Thank you for all of your support!
